It is located 50 km north-east of the city of Zhezkazgan (Karaganda region), on the left bank of the Kengir River. It was built at the end of the 15th century. According to legends, it belonged to Zhoshykhan — the progenitor of all Kazakh khans, the son of Genghis Khan, the father of Batukhan, the founder of the Golden Horde.
